The rugs that we design and make in our shop are woven on the same Union 36 looms that have been fixtures of The Ava Craft Center since 1962. These lovely, yet sturdy, rugs look nice and hold up well, even after being in use for years on a daily basis.
Ava Craft Center 2.0 is a rug shop in Burfordville, Missouri. Our rugs are hand woven on antique Union 36 floor looms. The shop is owned and operated by Sherri Killion and Lorrie Yount. We are third and fourth generation weavers. It is our desire to promote and preserve the craft of rug weaving for future generations.
The original Ava Craft Center opened for business in Ava, Illinois in 1962. The shop has been in the Killion family since then and has enjoyed a long and prosperous history in Southern Illinois. Just recently, the Craft Center was passed down to us. Since we live in Southeast Missouri, we decided to move our half of the business to the great state of Missouri. Ava Craft Center 2.0 has been welcomed and supported by the local community. We feel right at home here and look forward to this new chapter of our history.
In addition to hand woven rugs, we offer weaving classes, spinning wheel instruction and custom made items from local craftspeople. We also do demonstrations for churches, schools, private groups and clubs.
